TPVM Welcomes Research Associate Professor Dr Jesse Koka’ua

TPVM were fortunate to host Research Associate Professor Dr Jesse Koka’ua in mid‑March. Jesse is a Cook Islands biostatistician and researcher specialising in Bayesian modelling in health statistics. His work examines the prevalence of mental health disorders and the availability and accessibility of services for those in need.

During his visit, Jesse presented to the TPVM team on his research and shared key lessons on conducting statistical work with Pacific communities. He has also been mentoring Research Fellow Selane Tairea, providing guidance across a range of areas including statistical methods, modelling, analysis, and data design.

We are grateful for Jesse’s time and expertise, and look forward to continuing a productive working relationship with him in the future — perhaps even welcoming him for a more permanent move to the Cook Islands.
