Certification in GIS Training for Biodiversity Monitoring
TPVM researchers Antony Vavia, Lauren Turner and Selane Tairea recently attended a training workshop on strengthening conservation outcomes through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Biodiversity Monitoring in the Cook Islands hosted by SPREP and the Cook Islands National Environment Service. The 4-day workshop led the team through layering data to produce information-rich maps, and included a field trip to the Takitumu Conservation Area to practice data collection in the field. The team would like to thank NES for organising the event, SPREP for generously sharing their skills and expertise to expand local GIS capacity and Edgewater Resort for hosting the workshop.
