Farmers and Climate Change Survey (2024)
This dataset contains survey responses from farmers on Rarotonga collected in 2024 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Te Puna Vai Mārama. The survey was conducted using structured questionnaires administered through interviews with agricultural producers all over Rarotonga.
The dataset captures information on farming practices, crop production, climate change impacts, and adaptation strategies used by farmers. It includes data on crops grown, crops stopped, and changes in agricultural activities in response to environmental and climatic conditions such as rainfall variability, drought, temperature changes, and extreme weather events.
The dataset also includes information on barriers faced by farmers, including financial constraints, land availability, access to resources, and institutional support.
This dataset is intended to support research, policy development, and data-driven decision-making related to climate resilience, food security, and sustainable agriculture in Pacific Island communities.
The main dataset is provided in a wide format where each row represents an individual farmer and each column represents survey variables including demographic information, crop production, climate exposure, farming practices, and adaptation responses.
Additionally, tidy datasets have been created for crops grown and crops stopped, climate change, barriers to adaptation and adaptation methods to support advanced statistical analysis.
